Flight Rules

The Outcasts would firstly like to extend a warm welcome to you and thank you for your interest in us as a group, if you’re considering flying with us, then rest assured no matter your skill level we’ll always have room for you.

We decided to put together this section to better help you understand how and why it is as a group we do what we do within IL2-46, so that should you decide to join us on any of our flights you will be neither surprised nor disappointed with your experience.

During our continuing development with IL2-46 as a Squad we began to formulate methods and systems that worked in well with what the simulator had to offer us both in the area of heavy bomber operations and settings that could be enjoyed by all ...

Settings

These are the basics - occasional changes are made to better reflect the mission type being flown ... a picture paints a thousand words as the saying goes ... click on the link below to get a better idea on Outcast settings,
these settings have evolved from what we consider to be the best solution for participants and allow all skill levels to enjoy flying with The Outcasts allowing each flyer a certain freedom of choice within those settings ... you can retain a cockpit view or separate engine start if you wish while still allowing others an opposite option also.

Squad Tags

Squad tags are regarded as special throughout the flight sim community and represent the fact that you have been accepted by and belong to a certain group of people whose ideals you are in agreement with.

When it comes to membership with The Outcasts there is no application process, we prefer to extend an invitation
to an individual to join the squad after a certain time frame and when various requirements are seen to have been met and which would include...

1 - You have flown with us regularly.
2 - Get along well with all Squad members.
3 - Are not a member of another Squad.
4 - Show both an aptitude and maturity that fits well with the group.

One thing you should never do is give yourself a Squad tag without being invited to do so ... not only is it breaking a serious unwritten rule, you should be aware that refusal to remove it upon request will likely see you banned from ever flying with or joining that Squad.

TeamSpeak

This is the chat program of choice for the Outcasts and is the most commonly used program for communication between both individuals and other squads when combining for inter-squad matches ... listed below are rules for Teamspeak participation.

Entry onto any of the Outcasts Teamspeak servers is by invitation only ... fear not ... this invitation is freely extended when a flyer shows a genuine desire to participate in the credo that is The Outcasts ... unfortunately previous experience has shown when you allow "all others" to join ... enviably you become inundated by Tyre kickers, Bed checkers or perhaps those that are simply Spies ...  ;-)

Teamspeak Host
The Host of the Teamspeak server being used sets the rules for people wishing to join in.

Talk Setting
Push to talk is the preferred method as an open Mic setting has been shown to be disruptive by picking up and broadcasting general back-round noises and creating echo / feed back to other players ... unless you are able to prove none of these problems will affect other players by your use of an "Open Mic" setting you will be required to go "Push to talk"

Communication
When a number of people get together and use this system type for communication it is known that people will unintentionally talk over top of each other, that's accepted and understood but we would ask that you keep the following thoughts in mind.

1 - listen first and if the airway is clear then by all means start your conversation.
2 - In line with "1" above try not to cut in on another person while they are talking.
4 - If  "AFK" (away from keyboard) upon your return ensure that others aren't engaged in conversation before
     starting another one.
5 - Avoid anger towards another player, no matter the reason it will result in banning either permanently or for a
period set by the Host / Members until a resolution if any can be achieved.
6 - Be careful with your language, we can all make a sailor blush and sometimes we do so inadvertently ... you won't
be dragged outside and burned at the stake by letting out an occasional word not commonly taught by the
education system but we ask that you be mindful that there are ears listening in sometimes other than just
     the ones behind the headset.

Flying Missions

The mission creator will usually host and act as Flight Lead for that mission, briefing all flyers prior to the beginning of the mission and continuing to do so during the course of the mission if required.

The mission host is the decision maker over all things regards the mission being flown, including restarts if any plus when to bring the mission to an end.

Unless agreed too by prior arrangement, missions flown at meetings will be hosted by an Outcast member.

Outcast meetings are open to both individuals and members of other squads, you are free to wear your Squad Tags while flying with us ... We would ask only that you contact us first to let us know your coming and that while in attendance you do-not use our meetings as an opportunity to practice your Squads tactic's / theories or practices.

Nobody likes a whiner, It isn't appropriate to whine about the way a missions playing out or to repeatedly ask irrelevant questions ... allow the mission to run it's course, in other words use your initiative. Someone worked hard to build that particular mission and it's considered discourteous to badger the creator about it and unless your asked for comments, you don't have the right to critique it on the fly, even if you can do better, keep it to yourself.

It's also appropriate once the host has begun the process of loading and cycling through the various game screens to be ready to participate, if you announce during this process that you'll be AFK (away from keyboard) and are not ready to go when the host determines it is time to fly you'll likely be booted and will have to wait for the next mission, ensure that anything that needs doing before game launch is completed.
